Basic Channel is a non-profit collaborative curatorial platform, which explores the intersections of visual art, sound and digital technology. Basic Channel was formed as a platform to support long-term, evolving and itinerant projects with international artists. Informed by the behaviour of slime mould, an aggregate of autonomous cells which act like a single being, Basic Channel seeks to exist as a decentralised, peripatetic and environmentally-specific form of organising. The platform was launched in June 2019 with a project by artist collective 0rphan Drift (1994 – 2004), known for their immersive and visually complex moving image works.
